We have kept the mini guide concise and short so its an ideal for a reference for your stay. Whether you looking for holiday cottages in Anglesey, Golf courses in Anglesey or top places to eat and drink, we have covered a bit of each.. We hope you like!
History
Trearddur translated from Welsh as Arthurs town is a lovely little seaside community based on the shores of the west coast of Holy Island. The Island has its history steeped in Welsh myth and folklore. Situated next to the town of Kingsland on the shores of Holy Island, the small town asserts itself not only in name but also in nature.
Background
Trearddur bay with its beautiful seaside appeal is loved by sailors, swimmers, bathers and all round water babies like ourselves. Its situated on the west coast of Holy Island and its a real stunner of a place if you have yet to visit or spend an afternoon on its lovely golden sands during the summer and autumn months. Since the 1960’s Trearddur bay has been a haven for tourists and holiday makers seeking to have a water sports packed summer holiday with the kids in a friendly and safe environment. With everything packed within a few hundred yards of one another its hard to find a reason to leave apart to visit the super market really!
The Beaches & Coast
The Rocky coves that lead both around to the South towards Rhoscolyn (next article) and also further north towards porth dafarch are blessed with stunning little beaches, inlets and delicious bays that will make your day. It’s quite similar to Devon and Cornwall in some senses but just a little better 😉
Activities
Whether you are into power boating, scuba, sup, surf, sail, kayak, swimming, snorkelling, coasteering, cliff jumping or just sunbathing this little area has got it all for you. I Love to fish from all the different rock platforms in the summer for pollack, wrasse, Flatfish and some very nice Ray if you time it right! We also Spearfish here too especially at the coves further around towards Holyhead. In the winter its also great to fish on Flat calm nights for prized whiting, bull huss, Cod Smoothhound and Tope. Anyhow enough about fishing ! Activity providers locally are Anglesey outdoors and Anglesey Adventures (see links below) which are both fab, also I believe Gekko from Rhosneigr will be doing SUP lessons from Treaddur bay.
Foods & Amenities
Trearddur bay has a host of lovely restaurants in very close proximity to one another all producing really nice food in lovey ambient atmospheres. They have all really raised their bar recently and its great to see the place booming again with people in the summer time. The Sea shanty, The Seacroft , The Black Seal and the Trearddur bay hotel form the main contingent in Trearddur bay and all are excellent. The Sea Shanty has a wonderful breakfast buffet most days which is great an The Black Seal are quite a cool little Ginbar for you gin lovers. Most of these places offer a discounted winter menu with some having a 2-4-1s on. Nearest Shops are in the towns main drag either Spar or Treaddur Bay stores from most of your conveniences that are needed. Outside of that there is Morrisons and Tesco in Kingsland, Holyhead.
The summer months
The summer months are dominated in August by Trearddur bay sailing cub which runs its wonderful sailing events from Porth Diana. A colourful spectacle to watch with sailing races on most days. It’s also a great place to Scuba dive from. Many swimmers do their lengths along the shores as well as Kayakers moving from one cover to another and sometimes doing laps around Anglesey. With great walks to be had along the Anglesey coastal path with the dogs you can link up many bays in one days walk. The main beach is off limit for dogs in the summer months and can get quite crowded (in relative Anglesey terms!) but you are never far away from another secluded cove!
Top things to do on your stay when your here
Bring your body board and play I the shore break on Trearddur bay beach pack the wellies and go explore the rock pools along the coves along porth Diana
Coasteering? Its jumping of small (ish) cliffs in to the water. Anglesey outdoors and Anglesey Adventures both are excellent. SUP (Stand up paddle boarding) around the bay – Psyched paddle boarding
