Attracting more than 600,000 visitors annually Snowdon is a busy peak to bag in the summer months. However there are many others to bag as well, that are a little quieter and lesser known too. Staying here in this weather is a dream.. you can opt for plush hotels, B&B, Guesthouse, holiday cottage, or you could Camp. Camping has seen a massive resurgence in north Wales in the past years with many campsites and farms investing much time and monies in upgrading their facilities to bring in the foot flow to help diversify from the farming staple of past years gone by.
We love the camping option for its simplicity. A former VW camper owner, I would simply drive into the hills for the weekend, park up and wild camp in bivi. The in the morning, go climb, make a spot of lunch on the hill and the have a dip in a stream after. Thats my idea of a bliss. You don’t need a camper van to camp in snowdonia thought just a tent and some kit to get you by for the weekend.
Its a simple life camping and it really gets you grounded back to nature. There is simply nothing like planting your feet onto the morning dewy grass and brewing up a fresh batch of coffee on the stove. From there its up to you..Indulge yourself in day time activities, wild swimming, rock jumping, kayaking , sup’ing, climbing, hiking or whatever takes your fancy.. Then rest, cook, eat, sleep, repeat.
I firmly believe that there is not better experience for children than to take them into the wilds to get at one with nature, and its also pretty amazing for us adults too. So pack the car, fuel up, grab a coffee and head over for a weekend at Snowdonia camping.
