Coastal town of Pwllheli

Pwllheli is a fabulous seaside resort nestled on the Lyn peninsular in north Wales. It’s famous position has decorated many postcards with its “beach meets mountain backdrop” scenery.  Its positioned beautifully for almost all water sports, walking and outdoor activities and is only a short drive to the Snowdonia national park. You can effortlessly alternate hill days with beach days, or even do both in the same day! It’s wonderfully equipped marina is a great place to take to the water in any craft form, and local shops and restaurants are just around in its vicinity.

Pwllheli means ‘salt-water pool’ and is pronounced “Pwlh-hell-ee”. It is the central market township and informal capital of the Llyn Peninsula. This town has many narrow roads that have several independent stores, restaurants, pubs, and cafesas well as award-winning fish and chips, traditional seaside rock and Welsh ice-cream. There are the beautiful mementos, selling the usual buckets and spades as well as three main super markets for those who choose to self-cater.

Several sailing events are hosted at their award-winning marina each season which draw people from all over the British isles. Pwllheli’s famous open-air market on Sundays and Wednesdays during summer is held in the “Y Maes square” and is always busy.
One of the main attractions in Pwllheli is its beaches, which are mostly south-facing, and each have been nominated the esteemed Blue Flag Award, offering highest quality for bathing and being southerly facing the longest sunlight hours. The south beach that follows the length of the walkway, mainly consists of pebble and shingle reaches, whereas the other beaches close to the marina have long stretches of golden sand. During the summer months the town vibrant with bustle and is full of visitors on holiday from all over the UK.

Its a relaxing place where you can sit observe yachts pass by on the water,  most of town life revolves around cruising and there is a strong maritime community. About 400 yachts can be spotted berthing at the huge marina, Hafan Pwllheli, where as at the  neighbouring site you’ll see the National Sailing Academy, Plas Heli, where several important events are held in the sailing calendar. Some great walks are offered by the Llyn Peninsula. It is one of the greatest ways to view the marvels Pwllheli has to offer, great trails include the the Llyn Coastal Path, that by pass through Pwllheli. From Pwllheli one can enjoy eleven-mile way to Abersoch to the west, a beautiful harbour town, or eleven miles in the opposite route will take you to Criccieth.

Pwllheli is situated on the south coastline of the Llyn Peninsula, a beautiful peninsula in North Wales, and is a fantastic spot to base yourself if you’re planning to sightseeing this area of remarkable natural beauty.
This busy coastline  is positioned at the entry to the peninsula, which is itself safeguarded as an area of exceptional natural beauty. Pwllheli is the perfect place from which to discover this northwest area of Wales, where the Welsh language is spoken.
TheCoastal Path of Llyn is 91 miles long, spreading from neighbouring Porthmadog to Caernarfon on the north coastline of the peninsula. A part of the new Wales Coastline Path is formed by this path, which runs 870 miles round the whole Welsh coastline.
Being the biggest township in the region, it has much to offer tourists. It’s not simply a township – it plays the role of a beach resort, water sports and sailing hub, and a market town flourishing with culture all in one.
 

 Things to do and see in Pwllheli

Pwllheli is a fantastic place for families as it has several exciting things to do come rain or shine. Funland, which is in the heart of the town offers a variety of funfair and amusements rides for over 60 years. Located a few miles out of the town is Glasfryn Parc which offers all types of activities as well as quad biking, wakeboarding, soft play, ten pin bowling, go karting, and much more.

Just 5 miles from Pwllheli is Glasfryn Parc a must if you’re searching for a little adrenaline filled activity. Karting, quad biking and Wakeboarding all you can enjoy includingarchery, fishing andbowling for those who are searching for rather a little less intense.
Segway tours
You can enjoy relaxed cruise around the 30 acres of lovely forest. Located at The Dragon Raiders Adventure Park, you can enjoyon site paintballing too.
Jet Ski Safari

Eisteddfa Fishery
Eisteddfa Fishery is a trout fishing complex with five lake course which offers some spectacular mountain landscape.
St Pedrog’s Church
The St. Pedrog church was perhaps founded at some time in the 5th century when St. Pedrog landed here and founded a society.

Bardsey Island
The Bardsey Island is one of the most under rate trips an experiences in north Wales. Formerly a pliggrimage famous to many around the world, where 3 pilgrimages to Bradley where equal to 1 to Rome. It is the mythological resting place of Merlin the wizard and mourn more. You can get boat trips out to there to explore and take a walk back in time. It is now as a registered charity trust which works to conserve the exclusive environment of Bardsey Island.
Afonwen Farm Pony Hiking
A beautiful farm located on the scenic Llyn Peninsula in North Wales. The farm offers fishing on the own farms lake, pony trekking, and much more.
Plas yn Rhiw
On Cardigan Bay, overseeing the beach of Porth Neigwl, Plas yn Rhiw, nowadays owned by the National Trust, is a wonderful 16th-century mansion house.

Porthdinllaen
Porthdinllaen, is a much- snapped seaside village with pretty houses and beachfront inn set above a stunning half-moon of sands. Beach and village are held by the National Trust entry on foot only.
Llanbedrog
Attractive little coastal town with fantastic beach and possibly the most renowned – definitely the most appealing – line of beach shelters in Wales. Well positioned for strolling. Shooting school for seasoned shooters and beginners.
Abersoch
Famous and very stylish seaside resort and water sports/sailing centre, with beautiful beaches and secluded marina. Busy pub life too, and a great option of attractions and accommodation including boat trips, pony trekking, and crafts centre. Abersoch is even a centre for 6 circular strolls ranging from under a mile to over 9 miles.
Nefyn
Famous north coast coastal town with marina, a new Marine Exhibition hall, started in 2014, and lovely crescent of sand leading to scenic Porthdinllaen.
Llithfaen
Town set in a countryside full of interest. On Yr Eifl foothills there’s Tre’r Ceiri, an amazingly well-maintained ancient town inhabited until about 2,000 years before. Heritage Centre, the Welsh Language and Nant Gwrtheyrn, is close by.
This beautiful village is a place you can vacation year-round, as it is always busy and there is a lot to do in the village centre to keep you occupied on a raining day. The narrow streets of the town centre’s boast independent shops, boutiques, coffee shop, pubs and restaurants, whereas there is even a movie theatre and a spare time centre with a swimming pool indoor.This marvellous dangle of land, lush and sandy areas, sensational mountains is yet one of the most Welsh- talking parts of the kingdom.
