The Scottish Highlands are at their most impressive during the winter months when covered in snow andice. This five day course is the logical step up from our Welsh Winter Courses, to build your confidence above the snowline and developthe specific winter skills you need. With the expert guidance of ourhighly qualified instructors, you’ll discover how to use crampons and an ice axe, as well as learningabout route planning and avalanche avoidance. We’ll take you progressively through the skills of winter hillwalking, as you’re introduced to Scottish conditions, gainingvaluable mileage, experience andinstruction on some of Scotland’sclassic mountains. This course will be delivered from our scenic winter base in Scotland, the Alltshellach hotel in North Ballachulish.nnWe’ll take you progressively through the skills of winter hillwalking. Venues and day to day activities are weather and snow-dependentand decisions regarding the exactday’s programme will be decided bythe course director each morning.The whole group will meet for a briefing, allowing you to share thedecision making process with experienced instructors.
